To say your wedding day is special is an understatement. Your wedding day is special, important, and very likely one of the most significant days you will ever have in your life. Of course, you want your wedding photographs to be as special and unique as you and your love. If you want wedding photos just like everyone else’s, then all you have to do is show up. However, if you want spectacular photos that magically capture this special moment in your life, it is going to take some planning.
Exceptional Wedding Photographs
What makes an exceptional wedding photograph? Well, this is of course, subjective. As you may have heard, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” But if you want wedding photos that really “pop” think past the typical shots that you always see in wedding photos and go for something that is beyond the expected. Chances are these photos will become your favorites in your wedding album.
Everyone has seen the conventional posed wedding shots; the groom and bride at the altar, the wedding party standing at attention, the bride and groom cutting the cake and so on. Of course, you definitely want as many of these shots as you can get—after all they are priceless moments. However, there are some amazing scenic areas where you can get some incredible wedding photography shots. Think outside of the box about activities, places and moments that could make some truly unique and beautiful shots for your wedding album.
Must Have Wedding Shots
Some of the “must-have” shots for your wedding should include some impromptu moments. These are times when everyone is not standing at attention or on their best behavior. This could be a quiet hug between a bride and groom between rehearsals, the groomsmen clowning around or the wedding party doing something totally unexpected. Think of happy times and shared moments and you will come up with some great wedding photo opportunities.
Your wedding photographs do not have to be just of the wedding event itself. You and your significant other can dress up in your wedding apparel or even other clothing and take some great shots at scenic locations around the area. In fact, great scenery doesn’t have to be something expected such as a park, lake or garden. If you have some favorite locations or things you enjoy, such as a sporting venue, talk to your photographer about incorporating this place into your wedding photos. I am sure any worthy photographer will be willing to accommodate your wishes.
If you are going to take some additional photos in clothing other than the wedding attire, what clothes should you wear? This will depend on many different factors. Think about the climate and temperature. If it is humid and hot, you don’t want clothing that is going to be uncomfortable and stick to your skin in the heat. Choose something that will fit with the climate and activities you will be doing. Make it attractive and comfortable – easy to move around in. If you are comfortable, then you will look more relaxed in your photos.
Another consideration would of course be the weather. Unfortunately, Mother Nature does not always cooperate with our wishes! This is why you should always have a backup plan. Have some shots planned for both great outdoor and indoor locations. This way, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, at least you can go ahead and get those indoor shots. The photographer will work with you to reschedule the outdoor shots at a time convenient for you both.
Wedding Photos are Cherished Family Heirlooms
Wedding photos will likely outlast you. Think of how you want your grandchildren and even your great-grandchildren to remember you. These pictures will in all likelihood become a cherished family heirloom. Make sure you take the time to do the appropriate planning. If you do, your wedding photos will be a lasting treasure for you and your whole family.
